RGS
The Society was founded in 1922. It incorporated the Roehampton Horticultural Society, founded in 1873, making the Garden Society the oldest horticultural society in London.
The Society holds two Annual Shows, in June and September, at St Margaret’s Church Hall. There is a wide choice of classes for flowers, vegetables and cookery; also classes for novices and children. Awards, cups and certificates are presented at the AGM, Prize Giving and Wine & Cheese Party in November.
Members receive a Monthly Bulletin giving topical information and RGS news.
The Society also administers 180 allotments at two sites off Dover House Road on behalf of Wandsworth Borough Council, which sets the annual rent. Each year, plots become available in April; a few fall vacant during the year.
Friendly advice for gardening problems and a selection of gardening products are available every Sunday for members at our Store off the Pleasance between 10 am and 12 noon.
Membership is £3.00 a year (£1.50 concessions). For an additional £3.00 per year you can have the Bulletin sent to you by post, or it will be delivered free if you live near a committee member.
