Organic Gardening

The basic philosophy of organic gardening is ‘feed the soil, not the plant’….Joy Larkom

Organic Gardening is better for you and for the environment. Enriching the soil gives long term benefits that using chemical fertilisers cannot. Encouraging beneficial insects means less need for chemical pest control.

Organic gardeners aim to work in harmony with natural systems including the soil, water supply and insects with an ultimate aim of minimising destruction in the natural environment, whilst constantly replenishing any resources used during gardening.

Organic gardening promotes soil health, encourages biodiversity, and avoids harmful chemicals, making it better for both the environment and personal health. It also supports sustainable practices that can enhance food security and community well-being.

Many of our members garden organically, and some use no-dig or permaculture techniques.
